LOST TRAIL is the 2013 Maine Student Book Award winner, voted on by students across Maine. Nice to see that after 73 years, Donn Fendler's survival story still captivates Maine students.

NEW BLOGS for TEACHING WRITING
Lynn continues to add new blog entries to MAKE WRITING VISIBLE with advice for TEACHING WRITING. The blog includes VIDEOS (which may be shown directly to students Gr. 3 & up) and HANDOUTS for students to practice target writing skills. Some teachers/schools use the blog as a springboard for STAFF DEVELOPMENT & INSERVICE for how they can better teach writing skills. Recent blogs include WRITING TITLES, CHARACTER TALK (on writing better dialogue), STORY ADD-ONS (on finding and adding patterns to stories), and PLAYING WITH HOLIDAY POETRY (on writing holiday poems throughout the year).

See a movie TEASER for the film. A clip of the LOST ON A MOUNTAIN IN MAINE movie was fillmed in July 2012 with plans to film the entire movie in 2014. Watch for updates and progress on the filmmakers' website: The Donn Fendler Film Project and their Facebook page.
